5 ways to destress after a long work week

Most people need some time to shift gears once they have put in a long day at the office, but that is easier said than done! What are some healthy ways people can unwind and be intentional about self-care?

Here are 5 suggestions that may help you get started!

1. Change clothes when you get home. Physically engaging in the act of changing your clothes, and "shedding" the work attire, can cue your brain to switch into a different (hopefully more relaxed state!).

2. Take a shower, or freshen up. Water can be refreshing and relaxing, and can help a person transition to a different mind-set.

4. Work out. Get some energy out. Whether it be taking the dog for a walk, or going to the gym, get out and get moving. Releasing the endorphins can help let the stress out, and the relaxation in. Taking time to keep your body healthy will help keep your mind healthy as well.

5. Pick an activity that "recharges" you to engage in during the weekend. Whether it be exercising, cooking, reading or practicing your spirituality, do what you love!
